About us
Ivy Cottage Tree Farm is a family owned and run business based in Wilmslow, Cheshire. Established in 1983 when we first started growing trees at our Racecourse Road site, the business has grown from supplying a small group local retailers with a limited range of trees to being one of the biggest suppliers in Cheshire.
Originally just opening to customers at the weekend, the business is now very much a seven day operation.
Three generations of the Riley family are actively involved in different aspects of the business these days. Many of our customers have been with us for over 20 years and as our family has grown; we have enjoyed seeing customers who first visited as children come back with children of their own.
Having a real Christmas Tree is the environmentally sustainable choice. Trees take Carbon Dioxide from the air and turn it into Oxygen. A real tree, once harvested and enjoyed at Christmas can be returned to us for recycling (as wood chippings) or burnt as firewood. Either option is carbon neutral and has minimum impact on the environment. For every tree harvested another tree is always planted.
Did you know an artificial tree is produced using chemicals, is often shipped from the far side of the world and can take 100 years in a landfill site to bio-degrade. A real tree just makes environmental sense!
We are active members of the British Christmas Tree Growers Association, which works on behalf of UK growers to promote their activities.
At Christmas Time
You can pick a Norway Spruce tree growing in the ground, label it and return nearer the time to collect. These trees can be supplied potted, rootballed or cut.
We also have a huge range of cut Nordman Firs, Fraser Firs and Lodgepole Pines available to buy. Although we regularly stock trees up to about 12 foot, if you require anything larger please let us know as we will get larger trees to order from our other plantations.
If you are a wholesale buyer, please speak to us before the middle of November as after that time we are unlikely to be able to fulfill any wholesale orders not already placed.
We believe passionately that cut trees are at their best in stands that hold water and we have a large range available for sale. We are very happy to trim the base of your tree to fit your stand.
We have an on-site florist who makes up both holly and fir wreaths, fresh, for sale in our shop.
In our shop we hope to inspire you with a huge range of traditional and slightly more unusual decorations! As well as things to hang on the tree we have stockings, candles, crackers and much more. We delight in having some things just a little bit out of the ordinary!
We have two model trains that travel around the shop and fascinate children.. of all ages and a singing reindeer who entertains customers when we are busy.
After Christmas
When it’s time to take your Christmas tree down, it’s easy to get it recycled. Bring your tree back to us and we will shred it into chippings. The chipping are then spread in the ground around the next crop of trees… the ultimate recycling!
All year round
We supply Firewood Logs by the bag or by the trailer load. We can supply hard wood, soft wood or a mixture of the two. We also have kindling by the bag.
